About Cetinje

The town that means state. History of Cetinje begins with the old medieval ruler Ivan Crnojevic who was based in region of Skadar Lake. As Ottoman Empire started to conquer these parts he moved towards the nearby mountains which provided natural shelter. He kept his emancipatory spirit and felt the need to provide contemporary knowledge by printing first book of Balkans in 1494.
